Women of Consequence: Ambitious, Ancillary, Anonymous (5-12): Throughout history, women have often been denied their full right to serve as leaders and political advocates. This was true for all women, including women of African descent. Women of Consequence will explore the lives of African-American women from the 1800’s – women who have contributed to the political landscape of American, but have often been viewed as ancillary, and at worst anonymous. Through the lens of arts-based research, this program will share their stories, and promote discussion about Freedom of Expression for all women.
