    EMIE HUGHES is a modern dancer, photographer, and botanical artist living in Media, PA. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Dickinson College, where she won the Emil R. and Tamar Weiss Prize in Creative Arts. After graduating, she lived in NYC for 6 years, where she worked as a performance artist, arts administrator, production manager, and fundraiser at Danspace Project, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and other smaller arts organizations.

    Her dance works have been presented at the Delaware Art Museum, Brandywine River Museum, Triskelion Arts, the EstroGenius Festival, Dixon Place, FiveMyles Gallery, Bowery Poetry Club, and The Living Gallery, among others. Emie has also performed in the works of Sarah Skaggs, Yanira Castro, Emily Wexler, Dawn Springer, KK Apple, Helen Simoneau, and Ayano Elson, in venues including Danspace Project, River to River Festival at Federal Hall, Terminal 5, and Gibney Dance. Her visual artworks have been shown at The Art Trust (West Chester, PA), The Delaware Art Museum, and Rabbithole Gallery (Dumbo, Brooklyn), among others. She has previously been a teaching artist at the University of Hartford, Upland Country Day School, Delaware Art Museum, Brandywine River Museum, and Dickinson College.

    Before coming on as a DiAE Teaching Artist, Emie assisted DiAE with marketing and fundraising and holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Drexel University. In 2020, Emie started her business Blue Jar, LLC, where she creates magical cyan-blue botanical works and teaches workshops in the cyanotype process.
