Sharon Sable
Music
Sharon Sable, originally from Atlantic City, found herself immersed in the teen pop world as a young recording artist for LaFace/Arista records in Atlanta at the age of 17. During this pivotal time, she recorded with and for many of the eras pop/R&B heavyweights such as Pink, Babyface, Mandy Moore and Boyz II Men. Sharon travelled to Italy and toured the US in support of these other artists, all while finding solace, inspiration and an insatiable appetite for the hidden musical treasures that lay beyond the top 40. She eventually moved back to South Jersey, began performing with the area’s finest musicians and hasn’t looked back. Sharon continues to be deeply inspired by many of the iconic female vocalists ranging from Eva Cassidy to Bjork and Blossom Dearie to Abbey Lincoln.
Her repertoire ranges from easy swing and endearing ballads to Brazilian Bossa Novas and French love songs. Sharon is recognized as one of the region’s most beloved interpreters of song with frequent appearances throughout the east coast including her current hometown of Wilmington, DE. She has performed concerts to sold out audiences at The Christina Cultural Arts Center, Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Jazz @ThePoint Festival, Uptown Performing Arts Center, The Smyrna Opera House, Mainstay Music Hall and The Philadelphia Flower Show in addition to regular performances for The Rittenhouse Hotel, Delaware Friends of Folk, and the South Jersey Jazz Society. Sharon and her husband, multi-instrumentalist, E. Shawn Qaissaunee, recently had the honor of sharing the stage at an impromptu performance with the legendary Stevie Wonder in Philadelphia, PA.
Sharon has just released her first full length, full band album, “Love Evermore”, which includes original arrangements of timeless jazz standards that are all based on universal love and the path of awakening. The album includes songs composed by Dizzy Gillespie, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Cy Coleman and Mr. (Fred) Rogers.
